Many people have said art is an avenue of therapy and I truly believe this. Aside from oil painting, I enjoy art journaling and sketching. Wherever I go, my art journal and watercolor travel kit goes with me.
In all of my journal work, I use collage which is a colorful intimate way of pasting paper or notes in your journal and to yourself that are meaningful to you. It’s a journal and after some time has passed it’s always fun to go back and read these notes. Then I remember where I was at during a particular period in my life and I reflect on where I am now.
There are no rules to art and certainly no rules to journaling. If you are interested in collage, I’d suggest a mixed-media notebook made by Fabriano or any other kind of book that has thick paper suitable for watercolor and glue.
Otherwise, grab your pencils, figure out what it is you prefer to draw, and have at it. Have fun and enjoy!

I have tried mix media journaling. I always thought it was interesting. You can draw very well. I wish I could draw half as good as you. I know that’s not supposed to matter but sometimes I get frustrated because it turns out so bad.

Hi BC, thank you but honestly I’m not a drawer. I really enjoy it and I practice everyday. Over the years I’ve gotten better but I think it’s practice. Like everyday. Even if you draw for 10 minutes! That’s a plus.
Just keep at it and be patient with yourself. You’ll get there and one day uou will look at your drawing and say hey, I like this. ☺️

You are too kind. I hear you. I need to do it more. I was doing pretty good with doing it consistently but I haven’t in a long while. I need to get back to it. I look forward to seeing more of your stuff.
